I’ve been away….There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

September 22, 2009

images I have been away for so long I am now wondering if I can remember what to do here! I’m sorry to disappear and not explain why.

I certainly didn’t plan on such a long absence but as many of you know…Life gets in the way sometimes!!

My pot of gold came to our family just last week after many weeks of uncertainty and some very scary days. You see Patrick was without a school this year. It was not planned but as school was nearing this past August his stress level was at an all time high. For those of you who haven’t read my blog and our wondering why this could happen? My son Patrick has Autism. He was getting ready to enter his second year at Middle School and it was not an exciting time to say the least. I spent many a sleepless nights trying to figure out what to do and where the best place for him might be. We live in a rather small community and there just aren’t any schools that are designed to meet the needs of children with High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s. I’ve talked about the middle school years and how they can be challenging at best for any kid..but for this group "hard" isn’t even close to how it really is.

Well….Here is my "Pot of Gold"!!

After searching and networking with other special needs parents We indeed found the perfect school for Paddy to attend. It is a private school in the San Jose area and it was created exclusively for our kids! Every child can be who they are without being the round ball always struggling to fit into the square box. After only 4 days Patrick has a new friend and loves going to school. He is happy and content when I pick him up and I am happier than I have ever been! The days of picking up a ticking time bomb are over. I asked him the other day what he thinks has made the biggest difference for him. He replied " Mom I don’t feel any pressure to fit in, they like me just the way I am." That brought true tears of joy to this Mom.

So I hope you will stay close by as I am back and looking forward to sharing some new projects and updating you on a few old ones.

xxoo~ Stacey
