2010…Here is what I should be doing

January 11, 2010

Organizing this:CIMG1112

and working on filing this:CIMG1113

Instead I decided to do this:CIMG1109 CIMG1111

CIMG1110

I have had this table for about 10 years. I found it in a very cheezy furniture store..Sorry Levitz. It wasn’t actually Levitz, in fact that store would have been an upgrade. It is very fair to say when we moved into our house 12 years ago we had NO money. We were moving from a house 850sq ft to our home now which is 2400sq ft. I also worried that we would never be able to pay our mortgage either. "I not going to unpack everything" was a weekly conversation I had. Sorry got sidetracked…anyway, Our Dining Room was bare for the first 2 years. I really wanted to entertain and not having a decent sized table made it rather difficult. So Paddy and I headed out for a shopping adventure. I hit the usual antique stores and was thoroughly bummed. Not only is it next to impossible to shop with a three year old..I didn’t have any real money to spend either.

When we headed out to the parking lot of the last store I spotted across the parking lot a huge sign in a ugly store. "NOT YOUR AVERAGE SALE" CHEAP STUFF.

Why not I said. The table had great lines and a finish that didn’t scream I’m Cheap!! It actually became even cheaper when the sales guy spotted Patrick had climbed on top a very high dresser. Fearing a lawsuit he said $200! That I had. SOLD!

It’s served it’s purpose being boring brown.CIMG1084CIMG1083 BERFORE:

So what do you think? I really like it with the new slipcovers I have now.

Back to my desk now…well maybe!

Hope you 2010 projects go better than mine.

Things come in pairs

January 6, 2010

I mentioned a few posts back about the special something I found while vacationing in Santa Barbara over the summer…Patrick & I were antiquing in Summerland while my husband was enjoying some solitude. I think antiquing is right up there with a dental appt in my husband’s book. Not too worry..Paddy and I have a great time browsing around and meeting all the dealers. He makes friends wherever he goes especially with the older set. They will actually remember him from year to year when we return to say Hi.

This beautiful French candelabra is what I found.CIMG1047

Well..I wouldn’t part with the money at the time so I just thought about it for a few weeks after we returned home. Then while reading a few blogs..can’t remember the exact one I saw this!vintage1

It was then fate!  I knew I had to have it. It’s long lost sister was somewhere out there and I must say it was even more irresistible in the picture.

I am very happy with just one.

Don’t forget to head over to Cococozy for her amazingly generous giveaway!!

Good Luck too!

A special giveaway

Giveaway #1 010

I was checking on all my usual daily read blogs the other day and was so excited to see this giveaway. It is offered by one of my favorite blogger’s! Although I rarely comment ( my 2010 resolution) I just love all her inspiring posts about everything from renovations to great restaurants. She never ceases to disappoint! The most amazing thing to me is…She posts so regularly!! I have not been very good at this at all. I read so many and then usually feel I just don’t have anything as interesting to say. Well..I do hope to change that a bit in 2010. I say "hope" because that seems like less pressure.

Please head over to Cococozy and check out these beautiful Windsor Smith pillows. I have my fingers crossed!

Thanks for coming by.
